The Information Resources Directorate will begin shutting down Internet connectivity at 5:30 p.m., and this will affect computers and phones—so get your work squared away before then. The outage is scheduled through Monday, Nov. 24, but we're hopeful that power is restored late Sunday evening. Wondering where you'll report on Monday? Just check the JSCSOS website on Sunday evening after 7 p.m. to get a full report on the status of the outage. If power isn't restored by Monday, Building 45 employees are encouraged to telework from home or one of the designated telework buildings: Buildings 45 and 57. This day honors and recognizes the complex and unique loss of those who have survived the suicide of a loved one. Suicide leaves so many with confusing questions and feelings. The healing process after a suicide is further impacted by the perception of suicide itself. We will discuss several of the factors involved in survival in the aftermath of a suicide. We will discuss coping techniques for survivors, especially during the upcoming holiday season. We will also offer ways to support children and others intimately impacted by a suicide. Dr. Beverly Sauer will present the topic: "Communication Matters: Lessons in System Safety from the BP/Deepwater Horizons Disaster." Sauer was formerly an associate professor of English and rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon University and a professor of management in the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business.
